Generals aim to close another undefeated weekend against Spitfires
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals continue their homestand as they take on the Windsor Spitfires.
The Gens are playing some of their best hockey of the season, bouncing back from having the team’s five-game win streak snapped. Oshawa has won their last two home games by a combined score of 15-3, beating the Kingston Frontenacs 8-2 and the Peterborough Petes 7-1.
The Spitfires enter this game with the second-lowest number of points in the Ontario Hockey League. Windsor are 3-4-2-1 in their last ten games and have allowed the most goals against in the league.
Last Meeting
This is the second of two matchups these teams will play this season. The first was a road game for the Gens that they won 6-3.
It was the Spitfires scoring first in that one, but Oshawa would tie it later in the first when Connor Lockhart picked up a blocked shot and fired it into the net.
After Windsor took the lead again, in the second period, Calum Ritchie would make a nice move to get around the Spitfires’ defenceman before sliding it to Lockhart for an easy goal. The Gens would get their first lead of the game, as it was Luca D’Amato on the powerplay snapping one under the bar, making it 3-2 Gens.
Windsor would tie it up a little later, but after a pair of Oshawa goals from Matthew Buckley and Ritchie, it was Connor Lockhart completing the hat trick, shooting the puck from his own end into the empty net.
