Dylan Roobroeck named Cogeco’s OHL Player of the Week
Oshawa, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League has announced that 6’7 Generals’ forward, Dylan Roobroeck has been named Cogeco’s Player of the Week.
Recording three goals, four assists, and seven points, the New York Rangers prospect had a total of plus-five over three games.
The hot week for the 195-pound centreman began Mar. 5 when the Generals hosted the Ottawa 67’s for their last regulation game of the season. A divisional clash between two rival teams had the Generals seeking victory through revenge. Dylan Roobroeck grabbed the game-leading goal early on in the first period after a powerplay. The Generals would establish the zone working the puck around to Connor Punnett, who fired a shot on the net and Roobroeck got a stick on it to redirect it into the Ottawa net, making it 2-1 Gens. The Generals ended the game with a 5-4 win.
Currently riding a 13-point streak in six games since Feb. 28, four of those points came from last Friday’s matchup at the Brantford Civic Centre. Roobroeck joined in on the first frame action after a tic-tac-toe power play keepaway that ended with Roobroeck firing a bullet to the net and gaining his 20th this season. It was Luca D’Amato to Calum Ritchie to Roobroeck in the slot which made for a 4-0 lead heading into the second, in favour of the Generals. Roobroeck had one goal paired with three assists for a multi-point evening, resulting in CHL’s first star of the game.
The London, ON native wrapped up his week with a meeting against the Colts on Sunday, in which the Generals buried 5-1. Roobroeck had both a goal and an assist, helping lead his team to victory and gain the Eastern Conference title.
Roobroeck was originally drafted by the Niagara IceDogs in Round three of the 2020 OHL Draft. After one season, he has since spent his time with a Generals’ logo on his chest. The New York Rangers drafted Roobroeck at the 2023 NHL draft in Round six and he has been proving his potential ever since with a point-per-game average this season. In 63 games, Roobroeck has acquired 21 goals and 42 assists, totalling 63 points.
