Anthony Cirelli Named to Team Canada’s World Junior Selection Camp Roster

The Oshawa Generals and Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, are excited to announce that team Captain Anthony Cirelli has been selected to participate in team Canada’s 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship training camp.
“Anthony is a testament to any player that has taken the long route to success, from being undrafted in the OHL, to making our team as a free agent, winning a Memorial Cup and then being drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning and later signing an NHL contract. Anthony will be a fantastic addition to Team Canada and we would love nothing more than to watch him wear the maple leaf” said VP and General Manager, Roger Hunt.
The road to gold for Canada’s National Junior Team begins in just under a month in the city of Blainville, Que., who will be hosting this year’s selection camp from Dec. 11-14.
Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp will be held at the home of the Armada, the Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau, and features three games: two against a team of U Sports (formerly CIS) all-stars on Dec. 12 and 13, and a final game against the Czech Republic on Dec. 14 before the Canadians finalize their roster at the close of camp.
Anthony Cirelli is in his 3rd season with the Oshawa Generals. Anthony who was undrafted in the OHL is a player who will be a fan favorite for years to come for reasons such as; scoring the tying goal in the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup final and becoming the hero for the Generals as he scored the overtime winner to secure the clubs record, 5th MasterCard Memorial Cup in Quebec City in 2015.
The Woodbridge Ont native currently has 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 22 games bringing his OHL career total to 47 goals and 78 assists for 125 points in 152 games played.
Cirellis strong play over the past few seasons got him drafted 72nd overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2015 draft.
