A Look Ahead Dec 4
A LOOK AHEAD:
Oshawa, ON – The Generals will look to get back on track this weekend when they head out on the road. Oshawa will head north to face Sault Ste. Marie and the Sudbury Wolves. The Generals currently lead both teams in the standings. The Greyhounds are in 8th in the Western Conference while Sudbury sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Generals captain Michael Dal Colle has been invited to Team Canada’s U-21 camp this past week.
Saturday, December 5 – Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 7:07pm
On Saturday night the Generals start their weekend when they face the Greyhounds. This will be the first of two matchups versus the Soo this season with the other taking place Sunday, February 7.
Similar to the Generals the Greyhounds sit in 8th place in their division, however going into the week they have fewer points than Oshawa. The Greyhounds defeated Sudbury at home Wednesday night.
The Greyhounds have lost four of their last six, which could prove promising for the struggling Generals. However, they defeated the Wolves 10-3. The Generals power play has been ice cold over the past several games, but Sault Ste. Marie boasts a 77 per cent PK good for 16th in the league, and could help get Oshawa back on track. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds 19th ranked PP should bolster the Generals already solid PK numbers.
Sunday, December 6- Sudbury Wolves at 2:00 pm
Back on October 30th the Generals travelled to Sudbury, and were able to come away with two points with a 5-4 OT victory. Anthony Cirelli scored the game-winning goal just over two minutes into overtime. As well, Dal Colle scored one, and had a three point evening, They hope to repeat the result Sunday.
The Wolves have not fared too well this season, and currently sit in the basement of the Eastern Conference. However, there is promise in net with 16 year-old goaltender Jake McGrath. The youngster has allowed only 4 goals in 2 starts, and boasts an impressive .951 save percentage.
After being humiliated by the Greyhounds on Wednesday night they will look to rebound on Friday when they host the Erie Otters. Certainly this will be a tall task. The team has only five wins on the season with the last coming October 28 versus the Greyhounds. Currently their losing streak sits at 13 games.
