OHL Championship Series Game 3: Knights override double OT at the TCC
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals blow a four-goal lead in the fourth period as they fall 7-6 in overtime to the London Knights in Game Three of the OHL Championship Series.
A pair of goals from Luca D’Amato and a pair from Connor Lockhart were not enough for the Generals to win Game Three.
Oshawa struck first in Game Three as they gained the zone and worked the puck around before Ben Danford slid the puck to Ritchie who hammered a one-timer past the London goalie, making it 1-0 Generals.
The Gens would expand on their lead in the first as Rasmus Kumpulainen took a shot from the point that D’Amato got his stick on, deflecting it into the net making it 2-0.
Oshawa was not done there, as they added another in the first as the puck came to Connor Lockhart in front of the net and he jammed it home to give Oshawa a 3-0 lead.
The Knights would respond before the period ended as a Sam Dickinson shot managed to find its way through Oster, cutting the score to 3-1.
Oshawa would get that goal back in the second as Dylan Roobroeck fired a shot from the bumper spot on the powerplay beating Michael Simpson for a 4-1 lead.
London would answer once again on a powerplay of their own as the puck came to Kasper Halttunen who scored to make it 4-2.
The Generals would push back as they scored a pair of goals getting a second from Lockhart and another deflection goal from D’Amato to make it 6-2 Oshawa.
It was all London in the third period as they got the comeback started just over a minute in as Oliver Bonk scored on the powerplay. The defenceman would strike again before Halttunen scored to make it a one-goal game.
With just under three minutes to go, Sam O’Reilly would find the back of the net as the Knights came all the way back to tie the game and send the game to overtime.
It was not until double-overtime that the Knights would break the Generals’ spirits as they found the back of the net sending the fans home disappointed.
