36th overall selection David Bedkowski commits to Generals
Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals organization is extremely excited to announce the commitment of David Bedkowski to the team. Bedkowski was selected 36th overall in the 2nd round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection on April 29th.
Bedkowski spent the 2021-2022 season with the Richmond Hill Coyotes. Night in and night out he was a big part of his team’s success. He is an impact defenceman at both ends of the rink and uses his size and strength to defend and hold off the opposition.
In 28 games with Richmond Hill, Bedkowski scored 10 goals and eight assists from the backend.
“It means everything to me to be drafted,” said Bedkowski. “I’ve dreamt of playing in the OHL for a long time, and to join a storied organization like the Oshawa Generals is an incredible honour. I understand that this is a great opportunity for me and it is that next step to reaching the ultimate goal of playing in the NHL.
Bedkowski says he knows he is about to join an organization with a fanbase like no other in the Canadian Hockey League.
“From the Gens games I’ve been to, I recognize how passionate Gens fans are. The fans are the ones who make everything possible,” said Bedkowski. “Playing for a team like this I take on the responsibility of representing the city of Oshawa and leaving the organization in a better place every time I step on the ice.”
