OHL Announces Disciplinary Action
The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of its review of incidents rwhich occurred in a game played in Kingston on the 10th of February, 2008 rinvolving the Frontenacs and the visiting Plymouth Whalers Hockey rClub.
The incidents reviewed were a series of altercations which took rplace during the 3rd period in such game.
In reviewing such matter, the rLeague has previously taken the position that a Coach in the OHL is in a rposition of authority and accountability, particular in relation to his players. rBased on such review, it is the position of the League that Greg Stefan, Head rCoach of the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club shall be suspended for eight (8) games rand the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club is fined $2,000.00
Furthermore, Head rCoach Larry Mavety of the Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club is suspended for four r(4) games for stepping onto the playing surface and verbally interacting and rgesturing towards the Head Coach of the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club.
