Greyhounds defeat 67’s in 3-2 loss
The Ottawa 67’s fell to the Soo Greyhounds, 3-2 on Friday night in Sault Ste. Marie.
The Greyhounds opened the scoring with Utah Hockey Club prospect Noel Nordh netting his first goal of the 2024 season. Just moments later, Soo centreman Brady Martin added to the tally with his fifth goal of the season, extending the Greyhounds’ lead to two. The 67’s headed into the first intermission without finding the back of the net.
The Barber Poles wasted no time answering back in the second period as overage defenceman Matthew Mayich struck hard, putting the 67’s on the board with his second goal of the season and cutting into the Greyhounds’ lead in half. Then, Zach Houben stepped up big, tying it for the Barber Poles with his first OHL goal, also his first point. The 67’s went into the second intermission trailing by 1, giving up a late goal to Nashville Predators prospect Andrew Gibson, which would stand as the game winner.
The third period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, with neither side able to find the back of the net.
