Barber Poles visit Hounds Friday
From the North Bay Memorial Gardens to the GFL Memorial Gardens, the Ottawa 67’s (3-5-1-1) are set for their one and only regular-season road trip to Sault Ste. Marie, where they’ll meet the Greyhounds (6-5-0-0) at 7:07 p.m. on Friday night. You can catch all of the action on Rogers TV, or on CHLTV.
Please be aware that Kenny Walls’ radio broadcast will be online only. You can hear that by clicking this link.
Ottawa was handed their sixth consecutive defeat last night in North Bay, falling to the Battalion 3-2 despite an impressive effort to draw level. Luca Pinelli and Filip Ekberg scored in the contest, but Ottawa allowed a pair of power play goals, ultimately sinking their ship.
With his goal, Ekberg extended his point streak to four games, in which time he has scored six points. Cooper Foster has a matching streak, while Henry Mews notched his 100th point in the loss.
The Greyhounds are coming off a 5-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit, and have won their past three games. This past week, they added Utah Hockey Club prospects Owen Allard and Noel Nordh to the roster, with the former already scoring on Wednesday night. Nordh, on the other hand, is yet to make his debut in the OHL.
On October 4th, the 67’s and Greyhounds completed a trade that sent Charlie Hilton north, in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2027. In eight games since arriving in Sault Ste. Marie, he has scored six points, and is currently riding a three-game point streak.
This is the first of two meetings between the clubs. The 67’s won both contests in 2023-24.
What they’re saying
Norm Milley, Assistant Coach, on the additions of Allard and Nordh: “We are still going to play our system. We still do a bit of prep on them and be aware of them, but not a whole lot for us changes. We still have to do what we have to do. We have to get better in certain areas, and we’ll focus mostly on that. We’ll be aware of some of their tendencies, but it’s basically on us.”

Keys to the game
- Gut check
The 67’s have lost their last four games by a combined four goals. They’re in the game, now they need to make one or two extra plays to find wins
- Gotta kill penalties
The coaches say it’s a matter of seconds hurting the Ottawa penalty kill, but they need to find a way.
- Stay clean
If your penalty kill isn’t clicking, the best way to fix it is to stay out of the box. No dumb penalties.
