Barber Poles on the road to Barrie
OTTAWA, ON – The Barber Poles hit the road for their first multi-day trip of the 2025-26 season, starting with a game against the Barrie Colts at Sadlon Arena tonight at 7 p.m.
In their fourth game of the season this past Saturday, October 4, the Barber Poles defeated the Erie Otters on home ice with a 4-1 victory. With a perfect 4-0 record so far, the 67’s are facing increased attention from their opponents, who are eager to be the first to knock off the last undefeated team in the OHL. Despite the mounting pressure, Ottawa remains focused and ready to perform, whether it’s during practice, at the gym, at home, or on the road.
“We just keep playing our game, and we’re excited to get going,” said rookie and points-leader Thomas Vandenberg when asked about the pressure of this three-game road trip.
The Colts finished last season in the third round of the playoffs, falling 4-0 to the Oshawa Generals in the Eastern Conference Championship. So far this year, Barrie has played seven games, recording three wins, two regulation losses, and two shootout losses. The team has undergone significant changes, losing key players including captain Beau Jelsma (Providence College), star forward Riley Patterson (Niagara Ice Dogs), assistant captain Tristan Bertucci (Texas Stars), and their previous assists leader Dalyn Wakely (UMass-Lowell). With a smaller, restructured roster, the Colts are working to find their identity and fill the gap left by some of their star players.
Last season, the 67’s struggled against Barrie, losing three of four matchups. This time, Ottawa is aiming to flip the script and set the tone in the first of four meetings this season.
