Barber Poles look to rebound against Petes
The Ottawa 67’s (13-13-2-5) are set to close out their first weekend back from the holidays with a visit to Peterborough, where they’ll meet the Petes (7-20-2-4). Puck drop is at 2:05 p.m. and you can catch all of the action on Rogers TV and CHLTV, or hear Kenny Walls’ call on TSN 1200.
Yesterday, the Barber Poles fell 7-3 to the Brampton Steelheads largely thanks to a six-goal third period. Filip Ekberg, Will Gerrior and Henry Mews scored for Ottawa. Short-handed six times, the 67’s managed to kill them all off, a positive sign for a unit that has struggled in 2024-25.
Another positive for the club has been Gerrior’s recent form, scoring seven goals in his past six games, and at least one in each contest.
The Petes are yet to see action since returning from the holidays, but had plenty to be thankful for during the break, despite their rough start to the season. Though they’re still in 20th in the OHL standings, they’ve been hot lately, especially at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, where they have won their last five games.
Their young squad boasts the talents of Aiden Young, Colin Fitzgerald, Caden Taylor and Carson Cameron, who have all shown flashes of their talent in previous games against the 67’s.
In their three previous meetings, the home side has emerged victorious each time. Ottawa holds a 2-0-0-1 record against the Petes this season.

Keys to the game
- Fast start
It’s usually not an advantage to play back-to-back days, but the 67’s are game-tested after the break, and already have their legs up and running.
- Cash in
When you have a chance, put the puck in the net.
- Special teams
Scoring on the power play and killing off penalties is generally a great recipe for wins.
