Steelheads offence leads to victory over 67’s
The first game back after the holidays wasn’t too kind to the Ottawa 67’s, falling 7-3 to the Brampton Steelheads.
The Steelheads struck first a little under halfway into the opening frame, with former Peterborough Pete Chase Lefebvre scoring his fifth of the season. Three minutes later, however, the 67’s responded.
It was a beautiful move from Swedish import Filip Ekberg to maneuver around Anthony Paolini before sliding the puck into the back of the net, potentially securing himself the OHL’s play of the night in the process.
Brampton answered right back, as Aidan Lane gave the Steelheads their lead right back with about five to play in the first. In the second, the gap only grew larger, with Gabriel Chairot potting the lone marker, opening Brampton’s advantage up to 3-1.
In the third, the floodgates absolutely flung open. Mason Zebeski and William Eggleton put Brampton out in front 5-1, before Will Gerrior cut the lead back down to three, scoring his seventh goal in his past six games.
Only 70 seconds later, Parker Von Richter got it right back for the Trout, but once again, Ottawa responded quickly. Henry Mews scored to bring his point streak to three, but the excitement was short-lived for the Barber Poles, because Angus MacDonell put Brampton up 7-3 two minutes later.
Though Ottawa thought they had added another, it was called off, and the game ended 7-3 Steelheads.
