Vincent heads to Montreal
MONTREAL, Wednesday, May 21, 2008- Martin Routhier, president of the Montreal Juniors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, today announced that Pascal Vincent will be the franchise's head coach and general manager next year.
"Because the Montreal Junior want to offer their fans nothing less than the most exciting games in the QMJHL, we have selected a premiere coach in the league and we are thrilled that he has risen to the challenge!" proudly announced Martin Routhier. Since 1999, Vincent has lent his experience and wisdom to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, a team which he guided to the quarter-finals in the playoffs last season. Pascal Vincent has tallied more than 300 victories during his QMJHL career and was recently awarded the Ron-Lapointe Trophy as Coach of the Year.
"The return of junior hockey to Montreal presents an extraordinary opportunity to build a strong, winning team and to further stimulate the intense passion for this sport in Montreal" said Vincent.
In accepting the job as head coach and general manager of the Montreal Junior hockey club, Pascal Vincent, a Laval native, is returning to his roots. "I’m thrilled to be returning to Montreal for my family, my parents and my lifelong friends. The professional opportunity, above all else, is what I considered when contemplating the offer presented to me, but I certainly have personal reasons for returning as well!" declared Vincent.
