Trade between the Sagueneens and the Voltigeurs
LONGUEUIL, Wednesday January 5th 2005 (QMJHL) As part of the period of trades involving student players, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League confirmed a trade between the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
The Chicoutimi Sagueneens traded right-winger Romy Elayoubi to the Drummondville Voltigeurs, in return for left-winger Maxim Chamberland.
Born in Chicoutimi, Elayoubi (87-03-18) had been the Sagueneens’ first choice in 2003 (4th in total). He is 5’11” and weights 184 pounds. In 27 games with the Sagueneens this season, Elayoubi scored 4 goals (including 1 power play goal and 1 winning goal) and added 2 assists, for a total of 6 points. Before being exchanged, his plus/minus rating was at +1 and he had totalled 4 penalty minutes.
On his part, Chamberland (86-09-11) is 6’01” and weights 190 pounds. Being the Voltigeurs’ 6th round choice in 2003, he played a total of 95 games with Drummondville during which he accumulated 31 points, including 14 points this season. In fact, in 39 games with the Voltigeurs this season, Chamberland registered 5 goals (including 3 power play goals) and 9 assists, as well as a total of 11 penalty minutes. This season, his plus/minus rating was at -8.
The trading period involving under 20-year old players started on Monday December 20th and will end on Saturday January 8th, at noon, Eastern Standard Time.
