Sparre and O’Brien are the players of the week in the QMJHL
The Québec Major Junior Hockey League announced its offensive and defensive players of the week selected for the period of Monday January 20 to Sunday January 26, 2003.
Left centre player of the Victoriaville Tigres, Daniel Sparre, is the offensive player of the week in the QMJHL. In 3 games, this rookie player from Brampton, Ontario, scored 4 goals and obtained 4 assists for a total of 8 points and +2.
In a 11-3 victory over the Rimouski Océanic last Friday, he scored 3 goals and got 3 assists. In a 5-3 victory over the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the beginning of the week, Sparre obtained 1 assist. He got another assist in a lost of 5-2 against the Sherbrooke Castors.
Finally, Daniel Sparre did 8 of his 25 points during the only last week. The Victoriaville Tigres are the second best offensive team in the Robert-LeBel Conference with 183 goals. The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are first with 185 goals. The Tigres will host the Shawinigan Cataractes tomorrow at 7:00pm.

The Hull Olympiques strong left defenseman, Doug O’Brien, is the defensive player of the week in the QMJHL. In only 2 games, he scored 1 goal and obtained 3 assists for a total of 4 points. O’Brien got 1 assist in a 3-1 victory over the Montréal Rocket last Friday. Then, in a 8-2 victory over the Rimouski Océanic yesterday afternoon, he scored 1 goal and got 2 assists.
Finally, O’Brien, who is from St-John’s (Newfoundland) obtained all his points during power plays. The Hull Olympiques will host the Sherbrooke Castors tomorrow at 7:30pm.
