Seven QMJHL players invited to take part in Team Canada Jr. final evaluation camp
MONTREAL, Monday, December 5, 2005 (QMJHL) During a press conference held simultaneously in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver this afternoon, Hockey Canada announced the names of the 34 players invited to participate in the final evaluation camp of Team Canada Junior.
Seven players from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League were selected. They are forwards Guillaume Latendresse and Derick Brassard of the Drummondville Voltigeurs as well as Angelo Esposito of the Quebec Remparts, defensemen Luc Bourdon and Kristopher Letang of the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Marc-Édouard Vlasic of the Quebec Remparts. Finally, goaltender Julien Ellis of the Shawinigan Cataractes completes the QMJHL list of invitees.
The Commissioner of the QMJHL, Mr. Gilles Courteau, wished to thank the League Clubs: "I want to thank the League owners for lending their players for this particular event. Also, I’d like to wish both the players and the coaches the best of luck."
Furthermore, Mr. Clément Jodoin, the assistant-coach of Canada’s junior squad underlined the importance of the IIHF World Junior Championship: "I’d like to congratulate those who were selected and also remind them to enjoy this experience. This event is the realization of a dream for most players and it’s a little bit like the Stanley Cup of junior hockey."
The evaluation camp will be held from December 11th to 16th at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, B.C.
