Proulx and Michaud are the players of the week in the QMJHL
(Longueuil, Monday October 28, 2002)-The Québec Major Junior Hockey League announced the offensive and defensive players of the week selected for the period of Monday 21 to Sunday October 27, 2002.
Olivier Proulx, from the Drummondville Voltigeurs, is the offensive player of the week in the QMJHL. This veteran, who plays centre, scored 5 goals and got 2 assists for a total of 7 points in only 2 games.
Proulx participated to 7 of the 9 goals scored by the Voltigeurs last week. Last Tuesday, in an 8-4 victory over the Montréal Rocket, Olivier scored 4 goals, included the tying and winning goals, and added 2 assists. Yesterday afternoon, while the Drummondville Voltigeurs were visiting the Shawinigan Cataractes, Proulx, from Bellefeuille, scored the tying goal with only 36 seconds to play in the 3rd period. Voltigeurs and Cataractes tied the game 1-1.
Finally, Olivier Proulx is at the 10th rank of the QMJHL scorers with a total of 24 points. The Drummondville Voltigeurs will play an important game this Tuesday at 7:00pm while the Acadie-Bathurst Titan will be the visitor.

Goalie Olivier Michaud, from the Shawinigan Cataractes, is the defensive player of the week in the QMJHL. At his last 3 starts, Olivier has a 1-1-1 record and a 1.82 goals-against average and a .946 efficiency rating. The 19-year-old goaltender, which is from Beloeil, belongs to the Montréal Canadiens.
Olivier Michaud got an excellent streak of 139 minutes and 17 seconds last week without allowing any goals to the opponent. This streak started in the 2nd period last Monday in Bathurst and ended yesterday against Drummondville while there were only 36 seconds to play. In a lost of 5-2 to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan last Monday, Olivier got 54 shots and did 50 saves. Last Friday, in a 3-0 victory over the Rimouski Océanic, Michaud did 26 saves and got his 1st shutout of the season and 5th in career. In a tie of 1-1 against the Voltigeurs yesterday, he did 12 saves.
Finally, the Shawinigan Cataractes will host the Québec Remparts for their next game this Friday November 1st at 8:00 pm.
