Plourde and Crawford are the players of the week in the QMJHL
The Québec Major Junior Hockey League announced the offensive and defensive players of the week selected for the period of Monday November 4 to Sunday November 10, 2002.
This week, the defensive player of the week in the QMJHL is the right-handed centre player Jean-François Plourde from the Rimouski Océanic. In 3 games, he scored 5 goals and added 3 assists for 8 points and +2.
In a 6-4 victory over the Drummondville Voltigeurs last Friday, Jean-François scored 3 goals and got 2 assists for 5 points. On Tuesday November 5 while the Moncton Wildcats were in town, he got 1 assist. Yesterday afternoon in a 4-2 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes, the player from Sorel scored 2 goals, which included the winning goal. Jean-François was at his 3rd game with 5 shots on goal.
Finally, Jean-François Plourde leads the League with 21 goals and is the first player who scored 20 goals this season. He is actually at the 4th rank of the scorers in the QMJHL with 35 points. The Rimouski Océanic is at only 1 point from the 6th rank of the Frank-Dilio Conference, which is hold by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. 3 games on the road, he got 2 wins and 1 lost with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .931 efficiency rating.
Last Tuesday November 5 against the Rimouski Océanic, Corey did 36 saves in a win of 8-3. In a 4-1 victory over the Chicoutimi Saguenéens last Friday, Crawford did 23 saves. In a lost of 3-2 against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar yesterday afternoon, the player from Montréal did 35 saves.
