Jonathan Ferland and Michel Bergevin-Robinson honoured
The Québec Major Junior Hockey League announced this morning its players-of-the-week selection for the period from Thursday September 23 to Sunday September 29, 2002.
Right-winger from Québec, Jonathan Ferland is the offensive player-of-the-week in the QMJHL. Ferland, who belongs to the Montreal Canadiens, scored 8 goals included 2 winning goals, added
4 assists for a total of 12 points and +9 in 3 games.
Last Friday September 27, the Rimouski Océanic were at the K.C. Irving Centre. Jonathan scored
6 times in a 9-0 victory over Rimouski. Ferland is at only 2 goals from the team record held by Mathieu Benoit (1999-2000). Yesterday afternoon against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, player of 6’02” and 205 lbs scored 2 goals and got 1 assist in a 5-2 victory over Chicoutimi. The Titan lost 2-1 to Moncton on Tuesday, September 24 but Jonathan Ferland got 1 assist.
Finally, Ferland who ended last season at the 3rd rank of his team scorers with 74 points is actually the best scorer in the QMJHL with 9 goals in 5 games. The Acadie-Bathurst Titan leads the Frank-Dilio Conference with 11 points in 8 games. They are the second best offensive of the QMJHL with 29 goals, only one behind the Victoriaville Tigres. The Titan will play its next game this Friday, October 4 against the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

It is Baie-Comeau Drakkar goalie Michel Bergevin-Robinson (photo) who receives the defensive honour this week. At his last 3 games; Michel got 2 wins and 1 tie. He preserved a 1.63 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage.
On September 25, player from Verdun got, with 30 saves, his 2nd shutout in career and first of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Yesterday afternoon in a tie of 3-3, he did great with 38 saves against the Memorial Cup finalist, the Victoriaville Tigres. Last Friday, Michel did 26 saves in a 5-2 victory over the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
Finally, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar is at the first rank of the East Division in the QMJHL. Baie-Comeau has a 4-1-1 record. They will play their next game at home on Friday, October 4 against the Montreal Rocket at 7:30pm.
