Inside the Numbers – Special Edition, names on the President Cup

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies have a 3-0 lead in the best of 7 series. Game #4 will be played tonight in Shawinigan as the Huskies will try to win their 16th consecutive road game.

President Cup / Guy Lafleur Trophy

• Names on the Cup – we prepared a document showing the names on the President Cup since its inception in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 1970. You will also find the winners of the Guy Lafleur Trophy, given out to the playoff MVP.

ROUYN-NORANDA

• The Huskies are taking part in the President Cup final for the 2^nd time and could win their first league title in franchise history. In their last 15 away games, the Huskies have not had a single loss.

• Francis Perron – with 28 points in the 2016 playoffs, he could well surpass team record holder, Sven Andrighetto, who scored 30 in the 2013 post season. Perron is the owner of 2 game-winning goals in these playoffs and collected 2 assists on decisive goals in the finals (games 1 and 3).

• Chase Marchand (Rouyn-Noranda) – has had a fantastic playoffs, with a goals against average of 1.16, save percentage of .954 and 6 shutouts. His number of shutouts may already be a new record for a single playoff season, but the record save percentage to beat of1.84 belongs to Louis-Philip Guindon (Rimousku, 2015). The post-season save percentage title is held by Corey Crawford (Moncton, 2004); .938.

SHAWINIGAN

• Shawinigan, is participating in the QMJHL finals for the 3^rd time since their debut in the league in 1969-70.… 1971 – they lost to the Québec Remparts, led by their great star, Guy Lafleur… 2009 – game 7 loss (4-3) to the Drummondville Voltigeurs, in what many consider to be one of the greatest finals in league history.… 2016 – versus Rouyn-Noranda …
• From 0-3 to 4-3 – Never in the history of the QMJHL has a team succeeded wining the President cup after falling behind 3-0. Outside of the finals, 5 teams have in the past been able to pull of the feat, one them being last year, when Val d’Or beat the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and their then goalie, Philippe Cadorette.
• Cavan Fitzgerald and Samuel Girard – on an individual level, the two Cataractes both have in their sights the team record for most points in the same playoff season by a defenceman
