Drouin, Dubeau and Gaudreau are named TELUS three stars of the week
Jonathan Drouin, Alex Dubeau and Frédérick Gaudreau were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for November 11 to November 17, 2013.
For a second consecutive week, the first star goes to the Halifax Mooseheads forward Jonathan Drouin. In 2 games, Drouin accumulated 7 points of one goal and 6 assists. Friday, in a 9-2 win for the Mooseheads, he once again delighted fans of the Halifax Metro Centre by tallying up 5 points (1 goal and 4 assists). Recording a total of 5 points for only the second time in his major junior career. On Saturday, in a 5-0 win for Halifax, their 9th in a row, Drouin made two assists, making this the 13th straight game where he’s had at least one point. Drouin (46 points) trails Anthony Mantha (56) in the race for top scorer in the QMJHL .
Alex Dubeau, the goaltender for the Moncton Wildcats, is the second star of the week. In 2 road games, he delivered 2 stellar performances. Both times, getting a shutout, while maintaining a goal against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of 0.968. Friday, he kept his team in the game with 31 saves, allowing only 2 goals. The Wildcats lost 3-0 against the mighty Baie-Comeau Drakkar who are listed 3rd in the general standings; Dubeau was named the second star of the game. Saturday in a 2-0 win against Chicoutimi, he was selected as first star of the game after another great performance of 29 saves. It was his 11th career shutout in the QMJHL regular season and is currently leading among active goaltenders.
The Shawinigan Cataractes’ forward, Frédérick Gaudreau, is the third star of the week. In 3 games, the Cataractes’ captain accumulated 7 points including four goals. Friday, on the road, he started the weekend in fine fashion by participating with 2 gaols. However, his team ran out of steam, allowing a goal in the last minute of the game, for a 4-3 loss. Saturday, against the Victoriaville Tigres, the 20 year-old was named the second star after recording 2 goals and 2 assists for a total of 4 points. But it was yet another heart-breaking defeat by a 8-5 score, after taking a 5-4 lead midway through the third period. On Sunday his team came up short in a 3-2 loss in Drummondville which required a shoutout, but Gaudreau scored another goal, his 13th of the season, that earned him the first star of the game. Gaudreau, invited by the Cataractes before the start of the 2011-12 season, is currently the leading scorer of his team with 31 points.
