Bruins sign Zboril

BOSTON – Saint John Sea Dogs defenceman Jakub Zboril has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins.

The NHL club announced the agreement late Wednesday.

Zboril, 18, was a first-round selection (13th overall) by the Bruins in the 2015 NHL Draft last month. He was one of seven Sea Dogs chosen in the draft.

The native of Brno, Czech Republic, had 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 44 games last year in his rookie season with Saint John. He added one goal and three points in five playoff games. He then represented the Czech Republic at the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship in Switzerland where he picked up one goal and one assist in three games.

The Sea Dogs’ training camp begins in August.
