Boucher plays the hero as Screaming Eagles force Game 7
QUEBEC CITY, QUE – Dillon Boucher tipped home his second goal of the playoffs, leading the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles to 4-3 overtime victory over the Quebec Remparts at the Colisée Pepsi on Monday.
With the win, the Screaming Eagles force a deciding Game 7, tying the series 3-3.
Clark Bishop, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Stephen Anderson also netted goals for the Screaming Eagles.
Adam Erne scored twice while Guillaume Gauthier added a single marker for the Remparts.
After a scoreless first period, Cape Breton opened the scoring as Clark Bishop scored his fourth goal of the playoffs shorthanded at 13:18 of the second period. Alexandre Gosselin had the lone assist.
The Remparts tied the game as Guillaume Gauthier fired home his second goal of the playoffs at 16:24 of the middle frame. Jérome Verrier was given the only helper on the goal.
Quebec took a 2-1 lead on the power play as Adam Erne found the back of the net his third goal of the playoffs at 7:01 of the third period. Dmtyro Timashov and Nikolas Brouillard picked up the assists.
Over two minutes later, the Screaming Eagles tied the game as rookie Pierre-Luc Dubois buried a rebound for his second goal of the playoffs at 9:45 of the final frame. Bishop and Evgeny Svechnikov were given credit with the helpers.
Cape Breton regained the lead as Stephen Anderson’s backhander beat Remparts goaltender Zachary Fucale at 10:53 of the third period. Marcus Hinds had the lone assist on the goal.
With Fucale on the bench for the extra attacker, the Remparts tied the game as Erne banged home his second goal of the game, fourth of the playoffs, beating Screaming Eagles goaltender Alexandre Bélanger at 19:23 of the final stanza. Timashov and Brouillard had the helpers.
In overtime, Dillon Boucher tipped home an Alexandre Gosselin shot beating Fucale at 9:24 of the extra frame for his second goal of the playoffs. Gosselin and Dubois found the score sheet with the assists on the game-winning goal.
Bélanger made 46 saves in the win for Cape Breton, his record improves to 2-1-0-0. Fucale turned aside 34 of 38 shots in the loss for Quebec, his record falls to 2-1-1-0.
Game 7 of the QMJHL best-of-seven playoff series will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. at Colisée Pepsi.
