Date and odds for 2024 QMJHL Draft Lottery now available
The lottery to determine the draft order for the upcoming QMJHL Entry Draft presented by Fenplast will take place on Thursday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. ET, on RDS, during a special edition of the Hockey 360 show.
This year, four teams have a chance to draft first overall on June 7 at the Avenir Centre, in Moncton: the Val-d’Or Foreurs, the Cape Breton Eagles, the Québec Remparts and the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Here are the teams that finished in the bottom five in the 2023-2024 overall standings:
18- Val-d’Or Foreurs
17- Québec Remparts (pick traded to Foreurs)
16- Saint John Sea Dogs (pick traded to Eagles)
15- Charlottetown Islanders (pick traded to Remparts)
14- Gatineau Olympiques (pick traded to Sea Dogs)
The 21 balls in the lottery will be distributed as follows to determine who will draft first:
18th place: 9 balls, 43% chance of drafting 1st
17th place: 6 balls, 28% chance
16th place: 3 balls, 14% chance
15th place: 2 balls, 10% chance
14th place: 1 ball, 5% chance
With their own selection and that of the Remparts, the Val-d’Or Foreurs now find themselves with 15 balls out of 21, giving them a 71% chance of drafting first.
The Eagles have 3 balls and a 14% chance, the Remparts 2 balls and a 10% chance, and the Sea Dogs 1 ball and a 5% chance.
On April 25, the general managers of the Foreurs (Maxime Desruisseaux), Eagles (Sylvain Couturier), Remparts (Simon Gagné) and Sea Dogs (Anthony Stella) will be in the RDS studios for the live lottery.
