Proulx suspended 5 games
Boucherville, Thursday October 22nd, 2015 – The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, today suspended Julien Proulx of the Val-d’Or Foreurs for 5 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on October 20 against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
Here is the rationale that led to the decision:
The opponent entered the offensive zone on the left and cut toward the center of the ice.
He attempted a pass to a teammate who entered the zone on the right.
The player at fault was back checking in the center of the ice.
He changed direction, headed towards the opponent and hit him.
Two defending players were already checking the opponent.
He placed himself in vulnerable position but could not protect himself.
The player at fault’s stick was high.
The main point of contact was the head.
The opponent was injured on the play.
This is the first offense for the player at fault.
The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
