Sylvain Bibeau – Referee in Chief at the QMJHL

The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (“QMJHL”), Mr. Gilles Courteau, announces that further to the appointment of Mr. Raymond Bolduc as Director of Hockey Operations, Mr. Sylvain Bibeau will now concentrate on his function of Referee-in-Chief.

Mr. Courteau indicated that: “Indeed, Mr. Bibeau will now focus totally on his tasks as Referee-in-Chief. He will ensure an adequate supervision of the games, coordinate the work of the supervisors and establish the standards to be implemented by the officials. Moreover, he will closely follow up the development of the referees as to prepare a relief over all of the territories covered by the QMJHL”.

Mr. Bibeau pursued: “I am very happy Mr. Bolduc accepted to join us as Director of Hockey Operations. His arrival at the League will allow me as of August 1st to give my full attention to refereeing. This is such a controversed aspect of the hockey game, I want to put in place the best prepared team of officials capable of dealing with very often sensitive situations and issues.”
