The QMJHL honours its Personality of the Year
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League recognizes today a player who had a positive media impact and helped improve the league’s image throughout the 2019-2020 season. The Paul-Dumont Trophy has been awarded since 1990 to the QMJHL’s Personality of the Year. Well-known alumni such as Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Drouin, Brad Richards and Michel Therrien are among past recipients.
The league invited another high-profile character to unveil this year’s award-winner. Ron Fournier officiated in the National Hockey League for ten years after spending four years as a referee in the World Hockey Association. In 1987, he became a radio host, but his flourishing career really took off in 1994 when he took the mic for the CKAC radio station. Since then, the colourful 70-year-old hosts the popular Bonsoir les sportifs (Good evening sports fans) show in which listeners can enjoy his stories as only he can tell them.
