Éric Chouinard joins the QMJHL as Assistant to the Director of Player Safety
The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today announced that former professional hockey player Éric Chouinard has been appointed the Assistant to the Director of Player Safety.
Chouinard, along with other members of the Discipline Committee, will support current Director of Player Safety, Raymond Bolduc, in the decision-making process regarding discipline. Because of his vast experience as a player, Chouinard will bring his knowledge and experience to an already strong committee.
Éric Chouinard played in the QMJHL for the Quebec Remparts from 1997 to 2000. In 180 games, he scored 148 goals and registered 148 assists. He became a first round draft pick (16th overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in 1998. The forward went on to play in 90 NHL games with Montreal, Philadelphia and Minnesota, and over 200 games in the American Hockey League. Chouinard left North America for the German Ice Hockey League in 2006 where he then played for three years. After a short stint in the KHL back in 2014, he decided to finish his career in France as captain of the Grenoble Brûleurs de Loups.
