Martin Baca has committed to join the Wildcats
Moncton, NB – The Moncton Wildcats confirmed today that defenceman Martin Baca has committed to join the Wildcats for the 2007-08 season. Baca, 18, was a 1st round pick (27th overall) in the 2007 CHL Import draft and will arrive in Moncton August 9th. He will participate in the Wildcats Training Camp that starts August 12th at the Tim Hortons 4 Ice Centre. The 6’3, 202 lbs defenseman played last year for MHK Liptovky Mikula of the Slovak Junior League and also represented Slovakia at the 2007 U-18 World Championships in Finland this past April.

“ We are excited to have Martin committed to play for the Wildcats this year, both Peter Nevin (Chief Scout) and Tony Martino (Assistant Coach) were in Finland and pushed hard for us to trade up to take this player. They describe him as a stay at home defenseman with an edge. Hopefully he can come in and make a solid contribution right away” said Danny Flynn, Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations.
