Welcome to the family Pelletier – Wildcats top pick officially signs!
The Moncton Wildcats are very excited to announce that the team has officially signed our 3rd overall selection in this year’s QMJHL Draft, Jakob Pelletier.
Pelletier was the Wildcats first pick in this summer’s draft in Saint John. The high scoring forward from Quebec played last season with the Séminaire St-François Blizzard in the QMAAA, recording 57 points in 40 games played. It was a similar trend for Jakob during the 2015-2016 season playing in the QBAAA , recording 50 points in 32 games; averaging a goal a game and 1.56 points per game.
Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon had this to say about the team’s top prospect. “It is great to have Jakob officially signed. He is a big part of the future for the Moncton Wildcats, and a person who makes everyone around him better. His enthusiasm and passion is contagious, and he does everything to the absolute best of his ability. That kind of behaviour rubs off on everyone around him, and we are looking forward to many exciting days ahead with Jakob.”
Training camp officially opens on Tuesday for the newest group of Wildcats, the full schedule can be found on our website.
Fans will be able to see Jakob and other top draft picks on the ice next weekend, August 18-20th at the Superior Propane Centre as they take part in the QMJHL Rookie Challenge. The three day tournament is comprised of all six Maritime Division QMJHL teams, where their top draft picks and up and coming players will go head-to-head in this action packed three day tournament.
