GAME RECAP: Titan down Eagles in first of back-to-back home games
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan downed Cape Breton in the first of a pair of games this weekend against the Eagles. The home side pulled away with a 3-1 victory at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre and went on to sweep the evenings Stars of the Game.
Goal scorers for Bathurst were Colby Huggan, Blake Pilgrim-Edwards and Noah Laberge. Emile Perron finished the night with three points, and Tyson Goguen and Mathieu St-Onge had a point each in the victory. Lucas Romeo – with an assist from Brayden Schmitt and Émile Ricard – scored the lone goal for the visitors, on the power play.
Huggan netted the first goal of the night just over five minutes into the second frame to take the 1-0 lead midway through the game. Pilgrim-Edwards’ point followed shortly after at 12:38 to make it 2-0 heading into the third. Laberge found the back of the net at 5:49 in the final frame before Romeo put Cape’s first and only goal on the board at 14:13.
Huggan and Laberge were named the second and third stars, respectively for their goals in Friday’s win. With three assists, Perron was named the first Star of the Game.
Jakub Milota stopped 38 of Bathurst’s 41 shots on goal, and Josh Fleming stopped 27 of Cape’s 28 shots on net.
