GAME RECAP: Second round bound! Titan sweep Mooseheads
That’s a sweep!
As the clocked ticked down in Game 4 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre, fans hugged, cheered, yelled, and celebrated as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan team defeated Halifax on home ice. The Titan pulled away with a 3-2 victory over the Mooseheads, to complete a four-game sweep in the opening round of the 2024 Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League best-of-seven playoff series.
Bathurst finished the 2024 regular season ranked seventh overall in the Eastern Conference and fourth in the Maritimes Division, while the Mooseheads headed into this series second overall in the conference, but first in the division. When the puck dropped in the post-season, the Titan went on to defeat Halifax 2-1 in OT in Games 1 and 2, followed by a 7-2 blowout victory in Game 3 and the subsequent sweep of the series with a 3-2 final at the buzzer in Game 4.
Louis-François Bélanger, Cory MacGillivray and Colby Huggan tallied the goals for the Titan Wednesday night and Markus Vidicek and Liam Kilfoil scored the pair for Halifax. The Mooseheads notched their goals in the first and third periods, and Bathurst netted two in the first and one in the second frame to win the game.
Antoine Keller denied 25 of Halifax’s 27 shots on goal, and Mathis Rousseau stopped 20 of the home sides 23 shots on goal.
Acadie-Bathurst swept the Stars of the Game as well, with defenceman Harry Clements clutching the third spot, Bélanger in second with his goal and Huggan in first with two points.
Information on tickets for the second round will be released in the coming days. Stay tuned and we can’t wait to see everyone back at the rink!
