Introducing Maximus

Bathurst, NB, August 26th 2014 – Last season, the Acadie Bathurst Titan launched a contest to have their fans design a new mascot. Once a winner was selected, they sought out to bring the winning creation to life. It was one thing to have a new mascot, but they needed to give him a name.

The Titan brainstormed to come up with some names that would best represent the design of the mascot and the essence of what the team represents. They came up with Zeus, Sparta, Maximus and Atlas. After numerous suggestions from their fans, they added a fifth name, Acadius.

Eight hundred votes later, they’re excited to announce that the fans have voted Maximus to be the name of their new mascot.

They had the chance to speak with Maximus and he asked them to pass along this message to their fans:

Friends, Fans and Honoured Citizens,

Behold, I am Maximus – Defender of the Bay.

I have travelled from Ancient Rome to serve amongst you as we lead our Titan into battle. I am the latest in a long line of legendary warriors to carry this name. While I draw my strength from all of you, my greatest source of power comes from the passion and energy within the youth of the Titan Nation.

I call for you to stand with me as we defend the bay against all those who would seek to defeat us on the frozen field of battle.

Join me at the K.C. Irving Regional Center on Friday, September 12 at 7:30p.m. as we take on the Halifax Mooseheads and let’s Defend the Bay together!
