Drakkar hand Titan fifth straight loss
BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan suffered their fifth straight loss at the hands of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 6-4 tonight. The team now has a record of 6-4-0-2.
Goal scorers for the Titan were Marc-Andre Gaudet, Liam Kidney and Jaxon Bellamy with a pair of goals. Joseph Henneberry, Zach Biggar, Cole Larkin each had assists while Ben Allison had a pair. Isaac Dufort, Etienne Arseneau, Benjamin Corbeil, Vincent Collard, Jacob Gaucher and Andrew Belchamber scored for Baie-Comeau.
Gaudet netted Acadie-Bathurst’s first goal of the evening at 10:19 in the first period to edge the Drakkar, but Dufort responded with a goal of his own at 11:31 to tie the game.
In the second period Arseneau scored Baie-Comeau’s second goal of the night to take a 2-1 lead. The Titan then went on to register three more goals – one from Kidney and a pair from Bellamy, one of which was on the powerplay – to take a 4-2 lead over Baie-Comeau. Corbeil would score the Drakkar’s third goal of the night in the second to close the period 4-3.
In the final frame Collard and Gaucher would score two more goals to get ahead of the Titan before Belchamber scored the empty net insurance goal with less than a minute left in the game. The home team held the lead until the buzzer to take the game 6-4.
The Titan will travel to the Centre Georges Vezina tomorrow to take on the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Puck drop is 5 p.m. Atlantic Time.
