Alexis Loiseau named Gatineau Olympiques head coach
GATINEAU – The Gatineau Olympiques’ general manager, Serge Beausoleil, announced Tuesday the nomination of Alexis Loiseau as the organization’s new head coach. The agreement is for three seasons.
“I’m very excited about this nomination. I’ve known Alexis for a long time, having coached him and then added him to our coaching staff in Rimouski,” said Beausoleil. “He ticks all the boxes. He’s passionate about our sport, a hard worker, and an outstanding human being. I’m convinced he’ll be up to the challenge ahead,” added the general manager.
Aged 30, Loiseau enjoyed a brilliant 5-season career in the Quebec Maritime Junior League, all with the Rimouski Océanic. The Havre-aux-Maisons native won the Gilles Courteau Trophy during the 2014-2015 campaign, when he was captain of the Bas-Saint-Laurent team.
In the professional ranks, Loiseau played 4 seasons in the United States and Europe, including 15 games in the American League. He announced his retirement in 2019 before accepting an assistant coaching position with the Rimouski Océanic, a role he held until recently.
