Moose survive scare with OT win vs Titan

The Mooseheads needed a win on Saturday night and despite a bit of a scare, they picked up a pair of points with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Senna Peeters got the game-winner when he potted a rebound after a hard drive to the net by defenceman Jason Horvath. The goal came with 1:52 to go in the extra period and gave the Herd the win after Acadie-Bathurst had fought back from a 3-0 deficit to force overtime. Remy Anglehart took advantage of a Patty Kyte turnover and buried his chance with only 12 seconds to go in regulation to tie the game 3-3.
Halifax got some excellent goaltending from Cole McLaren who faced 45 shots in the game and turned aside 42 of them. The Mooseheads built up the three goal lead with two goals in the first period and one late in the second period on a highlight reel between the legs move by Benoit-Olivier Groulx with his team shorthanded. The goal was one of the most exciting fans have seen at Scotiabank Centre since the Otto Somppi lacross-style tally a few seasons ago.

Justin Barron scored once and added an assist while Max Trepanier had the other Moose goal. Samuel Dube, Jason Horvath and Raphael Lavoie each chipped in with two assists. Horvath also contributed to the physical portion of the game with three big hits and took down Evan MacKinnon in a brief fight.
The Titan started their comeback in the final minute of the second period when defenceman Noah Delemont scored his first career goal on the power play at 19:15. That cut the Mooseheads lead to 3-1. Anderson MacDonald cut the deficit to one goal with 7:37 remaining in regulation and Remy Anglehart shocked the building with his tying goal that came with the Titan net empty at the other end of the ice.

Final shots were 45-31 in favour of Acadie-Bathurst and both teams scored once on the power play. The Titan were 1-5 on the man advantage while Halifax was 1-4.
The Mooseheads embark on a three-game road trip this week that begins Wednesday in Blainville-Boisbriand and includes a visit to Val d’Or on Friday and Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday. The next home game in Halifax is Thursday, November 21st vs Baie-Comeau at 7pm.
