Markus Vidicek named to QMJHL Team of the Week

Rookie Markus Vidicek of your Halifax Mooseheads was named to the QMJHL Team of the Week on Monday. The 14th overall pick in June’s QMJHL Entry Draft scored twice and added an assist in two games played.
Vidicek scored all three of his points in Saturday’s 5-4 shootout victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs. He also contributed with a goal in the shootout before Bobby Orr grabbed the winner. The former Lac St-Louis Lions player has been playing on a line with 20-year-old left winger Liam Peyton and fellow rookie James Swan. Vidicek now has six points (three goals, 3 assists) in six games this season. Seven Mooseheads rookies have combined to score 21 points through the first six games of the season to help Halifax to a 2-3-1-0 record which is good for third place in the Maritimes Division.
The red-hot Acadie-Bathurst Titan had their three 20-year-old players named to the Team of the Week. The Titan have stormed out of the gates with a 5-0-0-1 record and back-to-back wins last weekend over Cape Breton. Felix-Antoine Marcotty, also the QMJHL Player of the Week, led the way with six points on one goal and five assists while Mathieu Desgagnes chipped in with five points, including three goals. Defenceman Adam McCormick had two points and was a +3. Sea Dogs defenceman Charlie DesRoches had a pair of assists and was a +3 to earn a spot on the weekly honour roll and Islanders goalie Colten Ellis rounded out the list thanks to his shutout performance versus the Mooseheads on Friday.

Halifax returns to action this weekend when the Mooseheads play twice in Cape Breton against the Eagles. The provincial rivals battle Friday and Saturday night at 7pm at Centre 200.
