Légaré Nets Shootout Winner As Eagles Edge Mooseheads

SYDNEY – Charles-Eric Légaré scored the shootout winner for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles as they edged the Halifax Mooseheads 4-3 at Centre 200 on Sunday.
Timothé Simard, Nicholas Dozzi and Stephen Woodworth each scored goals for the Screaming Eagles in regulation time.
Luca Ciampini, Liam Alcalde and Danny Moynihan each found the back of the net for the Mooseheads in the game.
Cape Breton opened the scoring at 6:12 of the first period as Timothé Simard netted his second goal of the preseason beating Mooseheads goaltender Kevin Darveau on the blocker side, Cameron Darcy had the lone assist on the goal.
The Screaming Eagles would take a 2-0 lead as Nicholas Dozzi buried his first goal of the preseason at 8:54 of the second period, Bronson Beaton and Colby Tower were given the helpers.
Halifax pulled to within one at 15:02 of the middle frame as Luca Ciampini scored his second goal of the preseason, Austyn Hardie and Brian Lovell added the assists on the goal.
The Mooseheads would tie the game at two as Liam Alcalde fired home his first goal of the preseason at 18:27 of the second period, Trey Lewis was given credit for the only helper.
Stephen Woodworth regained the lead for Cape Breton as his shot beat Darveau over the right shoulder for his first goal of the preseason at 5:41 of the third period, Bronson Beaton had the lone assist on the goal.
The visiting Mooseheads would not go away as Danny Moynihan tied the game at four with his fourth goal of the preseason at 7:11 of the final stanza, the goal was unassisted.
Mooseheads forward Nikolaj Ehlers would open the shootout by beating Screaming Eagles goaltender Alex Bureau, before Julien Pelletier tied the shootout in the second round, leading to Charles-Eric Légaré’s winner in the third round.
Alex Bureau made 24 saves in the win for Cape Breton, while Kevin Daveau turned aside 16 of 19 shots in the loss for Halifax.
The Screaming Eagles finish the preseason with a record of 1-4-0-1. The team opens the regular season on Friday, September 13th at 7:00p.m. against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the K.C.
