Bell, Darcy Each Score Twice In Loss To Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN – Jason Bell and Cameron Darcy each netted a pair of goals and added assists in the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 5-4 loss to the Charlottetown Islanders at the Charlottetown Civic Centre on Friday.
Anthony Cortese, Bradley Kennedy, Jack Nevins, Daniel Sprong and Kameron Kielly each scored goals for the Islanders.
Cape Breton got the scoring started in the game as Jason Bell fired home his first goal of the preseason on the power play at 10:54 of the first period, the goal was unassisted.
The Islanders would tie the game at 13:15 of the opening period as Anthony Cortese scored his first goal of the preseason beating Screaming Eagles goaltender Alex Bureau, the goal was unassisted.
The Screaming Eagles regained the lead on the power play as Cameron Darcy netted his second goal of the preseason at 18:25 of the second period, Bradley Lalonde and Jason Bell were given the assists on the goal.
Charlottetown again would tie the game as Bradley Kennedy found the back of the net for his second goal of the preseason at 4:47 of the middle frame, Kevin Laliberté and Alexandre Goulet were awarded with the helpers.
Cape Breton took a 3-2 lead on the power play at 7:52 of the second period as Bell buried his second goal of the game, second of the preseason, beating Islanders goaltender Daryl MacCallum, Cameron Darcy and Julien Pelletier found the score sheet with the assists.
Overage forward Jack Nevins tied the game at three for the Islanders as he notched his first goal of the preseason at 13:33 of the middle period, Alexis Pépin and Daniel Sprong added the helpers on the goal.
The hometown Islanders took a 4-3 lead on the power play at 3:33 of the third period as Daniel Sprong netted his second goal of the preseason, Deverick Ottereyes and Anthony Cortese picked up the assists.
Kameron Kielly put Charlottetown up by two as he scored his first goal of the preseason on the power play at 9:40 of the final stanza, Jack Nevins and Deverick Ottereyes were given credit for the helpers on the goal.
The Screaming Eagles did add another goal before the game was complete as Darcy found the back of the net for his second goal of the game, third of the preseason, on the power play at 19:08 of the third period, Clark Bishop and Bronson Beaton were given the assists.
Daryl MacCallum made 27 saves in the win for Charlottetown, while Alex Bureau turned aside 35 of 40 shots in the loss for Cape Breton.
The Screaming Eagles wrap up the preseason on Sunday as they host the Halifax Mooseheads. Game time is 4:00p.m. from Centre 200.
