Desmarais Leaves Screaming Eagles
Sydney – The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced today that 18-year-old defensemen Simon Desmarais has left the team for personal reasons.
The 6’01” 204 lb Chambly, QC was acquired by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in a trade with the Quebec Remparts in January of this year. The deal saw the Screaming Eagles send Logan Shaw to Quebec in exchange for Desmarais and forward Raphael Corriveau.
Desmarais was originally drafted by the Halifax Moosheads in the second round (28th overall) of the 2010 entry draft. He played a total of 110 regular season games over three seasons with four different teams including Halifax, Royun-Noranda, Quebec, and Cape Breton. During this span, he registered 2 goals, 8 assists and 169 penalty minutes.
“Simon has left the club for reasons unrelated to the team,” said Screaming Eagles General Manager & Head Coach Ron Choules. “We support Simon like we do all our players and are hoping to have him back in the near future.”
The Screaming Eagles play their next home game Wednesday, November 14th against the PEI Rocket.
