Eagles Return Home To Face Islanders
The Cape Breton Eagles will look to push their winning streak to three games and settle some early scores as they host the Charlottetown Islanders this afternoon at Centre 200 for Halloween at the Nest. It’s the first Eagles game on home ice after a five game road trip.
The Eagles and Islanders are both coming off 6-3 results in Halifax earlier this weekend, with the Eagles winning by that score on Friday and the Islanders losing by that score last night. For Cape Breton, it was a rally on Friday night, shaking off 2-0 and 3-1 deficits. Liam Lefebvre had a big game for the Eagles, scoring twice and adding an assist. It was also a night to remember for Eagle forwards Brayden Reynolds and Jack Broderick, who both scored their first QMJHL goals.
Charlottetown is looking to recapture its early-season form that saw the Islanders sweep a home-and-home series with the Eagles in September — a shootout win in Cape Breton and a regulation win in Charlottetown. The Isles now find themselves on a five-game losing streak, with their two leading point-getters, Matthew Butler and Owen Conrad, having been held pointless in their last three games.
But it hasn’t been all bad news for Charlottetown lately. It’s a big week for 17-year-old forward Antoine Provencher, who will play in this week’s QMJHL Top Prospects Game, a showcase for the 2027 NHL Draft. Free-agent forward Kimani Eccleston has found his game lately, collecting five points in his last five games.
With the Eagles playing their final game of October, fans are invited to dress up in Halloween attire. A prize will be awarded for the best costume.
