Screaming Eagles Announce Gerard Shaw As Team Governor
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are pleased to announce that team President, Gerard Shaw, has expanded his role with the organization and will also serve as the team Governor. Shaw will replace Richard Morency, who has served in the role for nearly 20 years.
The role of Governor is to be the team’s representative on the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s (QMJHL) Board of Governors.
“Mr. Morency has done a tremendous job in representing our team with the QMJHL. We want to thank him for his service and applaud his dedication to the Eagles organization,” says Irwin Simon, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles majority owner. “Mr. Shaw has a strong vision for our team and will make us proud around the QMJHL table.”
Morency, who’s son played for the Screaming Eagles from 2000-2002, is excited about the future of the organization: “I look forward to watching the progress Gerard and team will make over the coming years,” says Morency. “It was my pleasure to represent the Eagles with the league. I will always be cheering for them!”
