CHL Mourns the Passing of E.J McGuire
“The Canadian Hockey League is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of E.J McGuire. E.J was a contributor and leader of hockey at all levels of the game. His passion and love of hockey will surely be missed. We extend our condolences and our deepest sympathies to his family.” – CHL President David Branch.
E.J coached the OHL’s Guelph Storm for two seasons from 1995-97. He helped the Storm capture the Hamilton Spectator Trophy and a Central Division title in his first season behind the bench with a 45-16-5 record with an appearance in the 1996 MasterCard Memorial Cup hosted by Peterborough. E.J provided tremendous support of the CHL in particular towards the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and as a member of the OHL’s Site Selection Committee for the awarding of the host centre for the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
