Americans Capture Scotty Munro Trophy
AMERICANS CLAIM FIRST PLACE OVERALL FOR FIRST TIME IN FRANCHISE HISTORY — The Tri-City Americans have captured the first Scotty Munro trophy in franchise history for finishing first overall in the WHL regular-season standings after beating the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 on Saturday, March 15th.
The win leaves the Americans with a record of 52-16-2-2 for 108 points after 72 games played. Although the Chiefs could also finish with 108 points with a victory on Sunday, they Americans would win the tiebreaker based on total wins as the Chiefs would finish with only 51 victories.
The Americans also capture their first U.S. Division title in franchise history, as well as top spot in the Western Conference.
