CHL Today: Silvertips secure eighth win, own WHL’s best winning percentage

- The Brampton Steelheads (1) collected a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to Saginaw. It was the club’s first overtime or shootout defeat of the season.
- Dominic Pilote and Maxime Coursol each had three points (1G, 2A) as the Rimouski Oceanic (4) took down Val-d’Or 5-1 in Saturday’s CHL Game of the Week.
- The Windsor Spitfires’ (9) winning streak hit three games after a 4-1 win against Owen Sound. The Spits’ eight wins and 17 points leads the OHL.
- Jesse Sanche made 26 saves to register his first WHL shutout as the Everett Silvertips (10) blanked Portland 3-0. The Silvertips’ eight wins top the WHL’s Western Conference while their 24 goals against are the fewest in the league.
NHL prospect watch
- Liam Greentree (LA) had another three points (2G 1A) in Windsor’s 4-1 victory over Owen Sound. Greentree leads the OHL in scoring with 20 points and has amassed seven multi-point showings.
- Connor Levis (WPG) had a hat-trick and an assist as Vancouver thumped Prince Albert 10-1. Levis has 10 points (five goals) in eight games this season.
- In a 6-5 overtime loss to Swift Current, Moose Jaw captain Brayden Yager (WPG) had a season high four points (2G, 2A). Across seven games, the WHL champion has 13 points (seven goals) and has tallied five multi-point outings.
Nightly notes
- Michael Misa (2025) was involved in all three Saginaw goals in their overtime win against Brampton. Misa scored twice in regulation and then had the primary assist on Kristian Epperson’s winner. Misa sits third in OHL scoring with 19 points this season.
- Malcolm Spence (2025) had three points (2G, 1A) to lead Erie to a 5-3 win over Flint. Spence has 10 points in eight games this year.
- Cameron Schmidt (2025) tallied three assists in Vancouver’s 10-1 win over Prince Albert. Schmidt’s 18 points are tied for the WHL lead while his 11 goals lead the league.
- Clarke Caswell had four points (1G, 3A) in Swift Current’s 6-5 overtime win against Moose Jaw. Caswell sits second in Broncos scoring with 15 points while his 13 assists leads the team.
- Gavin Garland registered a goal and three assists in Tri-City’s 6-5 victory against Kelowna. The first-year forward is tied fourth in WHL rookie scoring with 10 points.
