Local artist Kennedy Baker has created a special line of BWK collectables to be auctioned off, all for a cause very close to Kennedy.

A letter from Kennedy:
My name is Kennedy Baker – I’m a 24 year old power engineer, Zamboni driver, coach, artist and cancer survivor.
I’m so grateful to the Brandon Wheat Kings organization for collaborating with me and my goal to raise money for Hockey Fights Cancer.
When I was diagnosed with Cancer, had surgery, radiation and through my recovery, I didn’t think I would be able to mentally handle/recover from it. But with the support of the hockey community and the friends I’ve made through hockey, I found light at the end of the dark tunnel. Even just going to a game while I was unable to do anything else, it was a great distraction and I remembered why I fell in love with the sport to begin with. At its core, hockey is just a game but it has the potential to be much more that than – and to me, it gave me hope.
As an artist I like to create fun pieces that make people smile, and this collection is no different, but it’s also to remind people that hockey is fun! It may suck if you lose a game or your favorite team loses, but it’s the memories and the fun parts you will remember in 10 years not the loses.
I’m grateful to be able to make these pieces, and to hopefully be able to make a difference for people who are going through treatment and recovery.
Even when you are a cancer survivor, it’s still a part of you, I wanted to change my perspective and use that to help others.
Thank you again to the BWK family for helping me make a difference.
