Job Title: Athletic Therapist
Department: Hockey Operations
Reporting: General Manager / Head Coach
The Penticton Vees Hockey Club (WHL) is actively seeking a Full-Time Athletic Therapist. The Penticton Vees are a new WHL Club based in the beautiful city of Penticton, B.C. The Vees are dedicated to developing elite hockey players and helping them secure scholarships to NCAA Division I programs.
JOB DETAILS
- Full-time (12 months) Competitive Salary commensurate with experience
- Annual Certification/Licenses Dues Covered (up to a certain $)
- Annual Continuing Education Fund (up to a certain $)
Education & Certification Requirements
- Certified Canadian Athletic Therapist (CAT(C) designation).
- Bachelors of Athletic & Exercise Therapy or a Post-Graduate Master’s Degree/Certification in Athletic Therapy.
- Valid First Responder Certification with CPR BLS/HCP.
- Experience or certification in nutrition and/or strength and conditioning certification (CEP, CPT or CSCS) is considered an asset but not required.
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check.
Experience
Minimum 1-2 years of working in hockey, preferably working with high-performance hockey athletes.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in the prevention, assessment, management, and rehabilitation of various hockey injuries while upholding a professional atmosphere.
- Proficient in delivering high-quality immediate care for acute and chronic hockey injuries, including on-site injury assessment, provision of manual therapy techniques, use of therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation of orthopaedic injuries, managing return-to-play protocols, emergency life support, and the recognition and management of traumatic head and spinal injuries, including concussions.
- Capable of collaborating with Strength & Conditioning Coaches to develop and implement preventative strength and flexibility programs.
- Skilled in working with other health professionals to coordinate athlete referrals to Physicians, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Sports Mental Performance Coaches, and other specialists.
- Experienced in using supportive taping and bracing techniques effectively.
- Adept at maintaining accurate office records and medical documentation for all athletes.
- Proficient in developing annual budgets, managing financial records, and maintaining appropriate inventory of medical and hockey supplies and equipment.
- Available to work long hours, irregular schedules, weekends, and holidays during the hockey season.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable of working collaboratively within a team while remaining organized and detail-oriented.
- Additional duties as assigned by the General Manager/Head Coach.

If you are passionate about hockey and want to pursue a career in the sports entertainment industry, this might be the job for you. The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is accepting applications for the position of communications manager.
We are looking for an energetic, hockey crazed individual to lead our communications department for our inaugural season in the Western Hockey League. The Vees first year in the WHL requires a storyteller who will manage our social media channels, write and distribute media releases, write and publish articles on our team, and players, and create and manage content through all digital platforms.
The Vees’ communications manager is the team’s leader in creating unique, engaging content, while aligning with the Vees’ brand, goals, and values. Professional communication skills are imperative, as the communications manager is expected to foster and maintain strong relationships with local media members, players, staff, fans, and local community partners.
This role requires a highly driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic person with a passion for hockey. The communications manager is a demanding position with high expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all communications (social, website, mobile, print, etc.)
- Create, implement, review content strategies
- Develop and publish content promoting the team, players, and league
- Publish all media releases
- Write pre and post-game summaries and all other hockey and business related news updates
- Publish and distribute monthly newsletter to fans, local media
- Publish regular updates on Vees’ prospects and alumni
- Foster and maintain excellent working relationships with local, regional, and league media members
- Manage media accreditation
- Graphic design
- Film, edit, produce video content
- Assist in strategic marketing plans
- Take direction from business staff to create digital marketing content
- Serve as team liaison for community, media, and team events with players and coaches
- Build and maintain regular media and community event calendars
- Edit, distribute game highlights
- Plan, schedule, and execute community events
- Building, maintain team game notes, statistical, and historical information
- Create and distribute stat packs, media packages, and rosters on game days
Qualifications & Skills:
- Exceptional literacy skills
- Team oriented
- Strong, detailed knowledge of the WHL
- Experienced in adobe creative suite (photoshop, premier pro, InDesign, after effects, etc.)
- Willingness to work long, irregular hours, game days, weekends, holidays
- Active on social media and engaged with evolving trends
Remuneration:
- Salary of $50,000 per year dependent on experience and qualifications
