Theodore Invited To Team Canada Summer Camp
Team Canada released the roster for the National Junior Development Camp.
KENT, June 23, 2014 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced defenseman Shea Theodore has been invited to Team Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp taking place August 3 to August 8 in Brossard, Montreal, and Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Hockey Canada announced a roster of 41 players this morning and Theodore is one of the 12 defenseman invited to the camp.
Canada’s roster, comprised of four goaltenders, 12 defensemen and 25 forwards, was selected by Ryan Jankowski, head scout of the men’s Program of Excellence for Hockey Canada, along with Hockey Canada vice-president of hockey operations Scott Salmond and the Program of Excellence management group including Sean Burke and Bruce Hamilton.
Jankowski will continue to monitor these players and other potential candidates during the first few months of the 2014-15 season and at the CHL Subway Super Series to determine who will be invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp in December. In total, 22 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, December 26, 2014 to January 5, 2014, in Montreal, Quebec, and Toronto, Ontario.
Canada’s National Junior Team development camp attendees will gather in Brossard at the Montreal Canadiens’ practice facility for practices on August 3 before playing the national junior teams of the Czech Republic and Russia.
Theodore led the T-Birds in points this past regular season with a total of 79. He registered 22 goals and 57 assists in 70 games. In the post-season Theodore helped the team with five assists in nine playoff games. The Aldergrove, British Columbia, native was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
After the T-Birds season ended Theodore was called up to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL, for the Calder Cup Playoffs. He played in four games, registering one goal and two assists.
The Thunderbirds will release the 2014-15 regular season schedule on Wednesday, June 25.
