WELCOME, ASSISTANT COACH » Harry Mahood
EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), two-time Western Conference champions and six time U.S. Division champions of the Western Hockey League, and general manager Garry Davidson announced today that Harry Mahood has been named Silvertips assistant coach, joining the staff of WHL Western Conference coach of the year Dennis Williams. Mahood joins assistant coach Louis Mass, hired today, on the Silvertips coaching staff for the 2018-19 season.
Mahood joins the Silvertips coaching staff with 20 years of experience behind the bench, most recently with the Bloomington Thunder (USHL) in 2014-15 when he was an assistant under Williams. As an assistant coach, he also worked with Williams to lead the Amarillo Bulls to a Robertson Cup title in 2012-13 and additionally has 13 seasons as a head coach in the United States and in Europe.
“Harry is a tremendous addition to our hockey staff, who stood out with Louis Mass among a list of solid candidates to fill our assistant coaching vacancies,” said Davidson. “He’s a welcomed addition to the Silvertips family based on his outstanding track record for helping develop players and contribute to a winning philosophy in ways that align with our core values. He brings qualities that we look for in all areas. I’m grateful to have a relationship with Harry that leads to a deeper understanding of his track record, and his level of familiarity on Dennis’ staff makes a great fit in our organization.”
“It’s a great privilege and honor to become part of a storied WHL franchise like Everett,” said Mahood. “Consolidated Sports Holdings (CSH) is family for my wife Sarah and I. We have been blessed to be part of CSH since 2012. Dennis Williams and I have had a very special coaching relationship and friendship. It was easy for me to see how talented and hard-working Dennis was from the moment we began working together in Amarillo. Dennis is a person everyone should have their picture taken with. I look forward to working with the entire staff and players, to build a robust and community oriented team that reflects the values and culture that has been established through much blood, sweat and tears.”
“Harry is a coach who we’re thrilled to add based on his outstanding and lengthy track record of achievement, and the qualities to help us continuously reach our goals in development and on ice success,” said Williams. “His knowledge and philosophy with generating offense and development produced great results during our time together, and is what we’re looking for in fulfilling his kind of role. I’m very familiar with his leadership and we’ve developed a great relationship, which is exciting to continue on our coaching staff.”
