BLADES CLIP WARRIORS – Brenden Walker scored twice in the third period to propel the Saskatoon Blades to a 5-4 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday night.
Josh Nicholls got his 34th goal of the season and Matej Stransky chipped in two assists for the Blades (28-21-0-3), who stretch their winning streak to five games and now sit just one point back of Red Deer for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Andrey Makarov stopped 35 shots to earn his 22nd win of the season.
Brayden Point scored twice and set up another and Sam Fioretti notched a goal and an assist for the Warriors (18-27-3-6), who led 2-0 after the opening period and went into the third period tied at 3-3, while Tanner Eberle also scored. Justin Paulic stopped 50 shots in a losing cause.
ROYALS 4, THUNDERBIRDS 1
Alex Gogolev netted his 20th goal of the season to help lead the Victoria Royals to a 4-1 win over the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds on Tuesday.
Joe Hicketts – with a goal and an assist – Jamie Crooks and Steven Hodges also counted for the Royals (29-19-1-3), who staked out a 2-0 lead in the first period en route to their second straight triumph. Patrik Polivka turned in a 27-save effort to post his 25th victory of the campaign.
Shea Theodore – with his 13th goal of the season – scored the lone marker for the Thunderbirds (19-30-4-1), who went 1-for-4 on the power play as they drop their third straight decision. Brandon Glover turned aside 21 of 24 shots fired his way in the defeat.
HURRICANES 5, PATS 2
Jamal Watson netted a pair of goals to pace the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 5-2 win over the Regina Pats on Tuesday.
Ty Rimmer turned in a stellar 48-save effort to post the win for the Hurricanes (25-23-1-7), who skated to a 3-1 lead in the opening period as they snap a three-game losing skid on the road. Sam Mckechnie and Josh Derko each tallied a goal and an assist and Axel Blomqvist also scored in the victory.
Chandler Stephenson and Marc McCoy scored for the Pats (19-29-3-3), who have dropped two straight and 10 of their last 11 games. Matt Hewitt allowed two goals on four shots over the first four minutes of the first period while Teagan Sacher made 21 saves the rest of the way.
OIL KINGS 4, RAIDERS 3 O/T
David Musil got his seventh goal of the season 3:31 into overtime to lift the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings to a 4-3 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Tuesday.
Mitch Moroz, Michael St. Croix and Stephane Legault also counted for the Oil Kings (39-11-2-3), winners of their last nine games, while Dylan Wruck picked up a pair of assists. Laurent Brossoit made 26 saves to earn his 26th victory of the season.
Mike Winther and Leon Draisaitl each netted a goal and an assist and Davis Vandane got his eighth marker of the season for the Raiders (30-18-2-3), who held a 3-1 lead in the third period until the Oil Kings struck for two goals 1:19 apart to tie the game and send it to overtime. Luke Siemens turned in a 48-save effort in the loss.
